Every year we celebrate International Yoga Day, on 21 June since its inception in the year 2015. Yoga is really a combination of physical, mental and spiritual practice, which is basically first initiated in India. The main aim of doing Yoga to attain overall body strength and keeping it healthy and sound. The Yoga day looking at what’s the best way keeping fit through yoga along with diet in order to lose weight.
You should always eat the healthy foods prior to your yoga sessions and post it play a major role in determining your health. In yogic principles, you should eat like a yogi always if you are following a yoga diet.
Before Yoga what should to eat?
If you practice yoga daily in the morning, it’s better that you should eat bananas and other fruits like apples, at least 30-40 minutes before to your yoga session. It’s better to start your day with foods rich in protein like oatmeal, dried fruits, eggs, protein shakes, and homemade protein bars to provide your body with energy. If you are practicing yoga in the evening, you can have light snacks same as 30-40 min before doing yoga. You can eat salads, steamed vegetables, nuts etc. to ensure that you are energized throughout the exercise.
Foods to eat before Yoga?
Bananas includes nutrients and contain plenty of potassium which make an ideal fruit for a pre-workout snack.
Apples like as alkaline in nature and this helps to stop acidity in the stomach. Basically, it includes natural sugars, fibres and vitamin C which gives the body an extra energy boost
Yogurt is also a healthy food that should eaten before doing yoga. Before starting a Yoga session take oats with low-fat plain yogurt.
Berries includes with vitamins, antioxidants and also contain fibre. Before going for yoga session chew berries like blueberry and strawberry before an hour.
Before Performing Yoga some important things to be care:
Digest the food properly till duration of digestion which depend on the types of foods you take to eat and beverages consumed. You should eat the food in very small quantities before going for doing Yoga and always consume only low-glycaemic index foods.
Practice to avoid sugary foods, junk foods and spicy food before going to start Yoga. Always avoid beverages like orange juice and coffee because it has an acidic content. Don’t drink a large or sufficient amount of water before practising Yoga as you may get sickening and having stomach cramps while practising yoga.
After Yoga what should we eat?
After 30-40 min from Yoga exercising you should drink water because it will fill all the electrolytes that the body may have lost during whole the yoga. losing of electrolytes may cause hinder in the body. After completing the Yoga session, always take a nutritious meal like a bowl of fresh seasonal fruits like as banana, apples etc. or vegetable salads as well, boiled eggs, yogurt with cereals, or nuts and seeds.
